I am using SCANPAN on my gas range. The handles, especially of the stock pots, get very hot. Are they not supposed to stay cool?

The gas flames may shoot up the side of the pot, exposing the handles to direct heat. You may want to regulate the flame so that it heats the base of the pot only, not the sides. The handles will then stay cooler or cool.
